1. Record Keeping and COE Checklist Documents

Not In Use

The Florida Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is the official form accepted to document the eligibility of properly identified migratory children in the state. Therefore, consistent and effective record keeping is strongly recommended. While there are no uniform requirements in the state on this issue, the ID&R Office has prepared a draft document with recommended strategies on how to properly maintain COEs and other documentation required by the MEP. In addition, a COE checklist was also developed for districts to use.

2. Update on Qualifying Activities by County

The last issue of the FL Recruiter (November 2007) included a form titled Qualifying Activities by County. The purpose of collecting this form is to develop a complete and clear profile of the state in terms of current qualifying activities by the different districts. Although no deadline was established, we have already received a number of responses from different counties (THANKS!!!). Please continue to send your qualifying activities chart (attached).

3. Manual for Identification and Recruitment Reminder

By now, all districts should have received the Manual for Identification & Recruitment - Final Draft. We strongly recommend that migrant education staff involved in the recruitment process reviews the Manual and provides feedback. The final draft has been attached for your review. Please provide feedback by January 9, 2008, using the enclosed form IDR Manual Review-Response Form. Please submit your comments to Ms. Carolyn Mathews (her contact information is inside the document). Please follow this procedure to ensure that all comments for the Manual are received through the proper channels.

Finally, the ID&R Office wishes all the recruitment and MEP staff in the state Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
