1. New home for the Florida ID&R Office

The FL ID&R Office has moved to a new location. Please remember to update your information and begin sending copies of the COEs and OSY profiles to the new address effective immediately. Our new address is:

Florida ID&R Office
10006 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. Suite 102
Tampa, FL 33618

The phone number and fax line have not changed – 866.963.6677 (phone) and 813.964.8985 (fax).

2. ID&R Manual and Electronic Technical Assistance

We want to thank everyone that sent in comments and feedback to the draft copy of the revised ID&R Manual. Edits have been made – a final copy is now available on our website. Please keep in mind that as guidance and policy changes are announced, the manual will continue to be revised.

The ID&R Office is pleased to announce a new initiative we hope Florida MEP staff will find useful – electronic technical assistance, or “e-TA” for short. To kick things off, we have prepared two PowerPoint presentations on important ID&R related topics. One presentation is on Early Moves, which discusses the factors to keep in mind when a worker and/or family arrive weeks before the qualifying work is scheduled to begin. The other presentation offers technical assistance on International Moves and clarifies which moves are eligible. The e-TA is available on our website to be viewed at a time that is convenient to your local program. Recruiters – we encourage you to review and discuss these presentations with your colleagues and your coordinators.

The link to the manual and e-TAs is available on the Guidance from the ID&R Office page.

Please notify our office if you have any questions regarding any of these materials. Additional e-TA presentations will be coming soon!

If any district is interested in having our staff conduct onsite ID&R training, please contact our office to schedule a training session.

3. Rolling Re-Interviews

We have received questions from several districts following the external re-interviews that were conducted last year. While external re-interviews are required every three years, each district is expected to conduct rolling re-interviews annually. As a best practice, rolling re-interviews shall be conducted as shortly after the initial interview as possible. This is because the interviewee will be easier to locate and it will be easier for the interviewee to remember what he or she said in the original interview.

Once your district has conducted the rolling re-interviews, please remember to complete the Re-interview Reporting Form. A downloadable copy is available on our Guidance from the ID&R Office webpage under the Re-Interview subheading. (http://flrecruiter.org/node/210). The reporting forms are due to the ID&R Office by October 1, 2013. The information collected becomes part of our report to the Office of Migrant Education, so your assistance on this matter is crucial. Please contact us if you have any questions.

4. Qualifying Activity Charts

Each district has been contacted and asked to review and update their qualifying activity chart. Thank you to all that have responded already. We will soon be adding the revised charts to the district directory information on our website. Once all the charts have been updated the full list will appear on the Guidance from the ID&R Office webpage.

The deadline to submit the revised chart to our office is Monday, May 13, 2013. Please contact us if you have any questions.

5. NASDME Conference

Florida is proud to be the hosting state for the 45th Annual National Association of State Directors of Migrant Education – National Migrant Education Conference. The event will take place at the Rosen Centre Hotel, Orlando, Florida. We hope to see many of you there. We also want to congratulate the numerous Florida MEP staff that were selected to present. For more information on the conference, please visit the
NASDME website.
