1. 2013-14 COE Update

An unanticipated change was made to the COE form for the 2013-14 school year, which has delayed the delivery date slightly. We will inform the districts once the new forms are have been shipped. In the meantime, districts may continue to use the 2012-13 forms since they do not have an expiration date.

2. National ID&R Forum

ESCORT is sponsoring the 2013 National ID&R Forum on October 1-3, 2013, in Tampa, Florida. The forum is designed to focus specifically on ID&R, spark innovative ideas, expand current MEP eligibility knowledge and showcase effective systems and strategies to recruit migrant children and youth. More details coming soon – stay tuned!

3. Florida ID&R Training

The ID&R Office is planning to conduct a training session on the morning of Tuesday, October 1, 2013, prior to the National ID&R Forum mentioned previously. The purpose of this voluntary training will be to provide state-specific guidance to ID&R and eligibility issues. Participants may choose to attend the National ID&R Forum at the conclusion of the state-specific session since both events will take place in at the same venue. As with the forum, more details will be available soon.

4. Local Re-interviews

Districts are reminded that local re-interviews must be completed on an annual basis. The results of these efforts should be reported to the ID&R Office by October 1 each year. Use the following link to download the appropriate reporting form:

Interview Reporting Form

Remember, when conducting local re-interviews, we recommended highly that a person not involved in the original determination conducts the re-interview. Districts should plan to use other MEP staff (including other recruiters) to conduct the re-interviews. District MEP coordinators may also collaborate with coordinators from neighboring districts to assistance with the local efforts or contact the ID&R Office for additional help.

5. Stories from the Field

We always enjoy sharing positive stories and information about the great work being done by the local migrant program staff. Recently we received news from Hendry County about a visit they had from artist and former migrant worker, Simon Silva. Check out the complete story and other inspiring news on our website at
