Statewide ID&R Training Event - April 2019

The ID&R Office hosted a statewide training in Daytona Beach, FL on April 16-17, 2019. Over 100 attendees representing 26 LOAs, the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Migrant Interstate Program, University of South Florida HEP/CAMP, Valdosta State University CAMP, and East Coast Migrant Head Start Project participated in the training.

The event featured presentations on Eligibility and COE Fundamentals, Review of Case Studies, and COE Completion. In addition, participants learned about recruiting and serving out-of-school youth (OSY) from a guest presenter from the South Carolina MEP.

New to this year's training was a Table Topic session in which attendees had the opportunity to learn about a number of topics related to ID&R.

Statewide ID&R Training Event - February 2018

The ID&R Office hosted a statewide training in Orlando, FL on February 27-28, 2018. Approximately 120 attendees representing 27 LOAs, the State MEP office, USF HEP/CAMP, and East Coast Migrant Head Start Program. The event featured presentations on COE completion, prospective re-interviews, ID&R, and mental health services for H-2A workers and out-of-school youth, MSIX for recruiters, eligibility scenarios, update on the ID&R Manual, and news on the effects of Hurricane Irma on Florida agriculture. A pre-and post-assessment on ID&R was administered to all training attendees.


2016 National Migrant Conference - April 2016

Jorge Echegaray, Margot Di Salvo, and Lupi Ginn from the ID&R Office had the pleasure of representing Florida by conducting workshops at National Migrant Education Conference in San Diego, CA on April 25-27, 2016.

Jorge and Lupi co-presented a workshop, Florida's Mapping and Recruitment Efforts, that engaged participants in a discussion on the benefits of using technology to enhance and monitor recruitment efforts. Participants had an opportunity to explore innovative ways to identify recruitment leads via internet search tools and take what they learned to develop their own online maps to enhance their recruitment efforts.

Margot co-presented with Mirna Rivera Topke from the Hillsborough County MEP. The workshop, OSY - Academic Support to Excel through GED and Beyond, showcased tools developed by the OSY consortium that the Florida OSY Task Force has adapted. The presentation offered effective strategies that migrant advocates can use to appropriately serve OSY based on their unique needs.

2015 National Migrant Conference - March 2015

The ID&R Office presented an encore workshop on the UNO Project at the National Migrant Conference that was held in Seattle, WA on March 22-25, 2015.

SOSOSY Dissemination Event - November 2014

The SOSOSY Dissemination Event took place on November 19-21, 2014 in Clearwater, FL. Margot Di Salvo (FL ID&R Office) and Kim Fioramanti (FMIP) presented a session on the integrated process the Florida OSY Task Force (TF) created that utilizes profile information to tailor services to individual needs and inspire innovative service delivery strategies. The TF conducted the UNO (Understanding the Needs of OSY) pilot project using SOSOSY consortium tools such as the Educational Outcomes Chart that were modified for Florida service providers.
